
Children are active learners who learn best from activities they plan and carry out themselves.
This curriculum is presented using themes in order to underpin learning.
From the ages of 3 to 5 each child will work towards the Early Learning Goals according to their age
and stage of development.
Planning of the Curriculum includes long, medium and short term planning based on appropriate themes. identifying key areas of learning both for groups and individual children.
Evaluation of children’s learning includes transferring information in individual child development files.
Experiences for children under 3 years of age are planned and evaluated according to the Sure start
Birth to Three Framework (2002), Dfes Birth to Three Matters.
Type of activities:
•Jigsaw puzzles
• Construction toys
• Imaginary play
• Role play
• Games
• Creative play – collage, painting, colouring, cutting, junk modelling
• Messy play – cooked pasta, dry pasta, clay, slime, gloop, water, wet and dry sand
Outside of the nursery children enjoy taking part in community life with regular walks within the local area
and a yearly fun day.
