Here is some further information regarding the nurseys day to day running.
Security
It is the nursery's policy that the only staff members are to open
the door to parents or isitors.
We pride ourselves on this, and
hope that parents and carers respect this policy.
As a parent or carer you will understand the need for your child to be safe.
Therefore we ask that parents or carers inform a member of the
nursery staff if there is somebody at the door, and not take it upon themselves to open the door.
The room into the main nursery
is on a secure digital lock, which only the staff know the number
too, and is secure all day.
We also ask parents to co-operate with us by not leaving the "baby" gates open for the children to go through. We also ask that parents close the gate in the outdoor play area whenever they use it.
The outside play area is secure, and the children are supervised at all times by at least two members of staff.
Parent and Carers
Here at Tiny Steps we work on an open door policy.
Parents and carers are encouraged to share with their child's Keyworker any achievements that their child has done at home, or any other matters relating to their child.
Parents and carers are also asked if they have any ideas on how the nursery could be improved, and a suggestion box is available for these suggestions.
Fire drills
Fire drills are carried out regularly to ensure that staff and children know how to exit the building in the event of a fire. The nursery is also fitted with emergency lighting which in the winter months is reassuring.
Outings
Tiny Steps Nursery is insured to take children out to the local surrounding area. All children are encouraged to join in on these outings, and we visit many varied places.
Parents must sign a consent form for outings before their child will be taken on these local visits. If a visit was planned, and the place of interest a long way away, then we would ask for a second consent form to be signed
Sickness
We do ask parent and carers to keep their child from nursery if they are suffering from a doubtful rash, discharge from the eyes or ears, sore throat, vomiting, or if they have diarrhoea. This is to ensure sickness is not spread to other children.
In the event that a child was to become ill while in our care, we would make every effort to contact you as soon as possible
Record keeping
Your child will be allocated a Keyworker who will observe your child and keep a record of their progress.
Each child has a personal development file, which will have observations and work that they have done.
Every six months these observations, and the work, will come home to you the
parent or carer.
These observations are of how your child is progressing, and a record for you to keep.
Every year we send out two progress reports (December and June). These will be written by your child's Keyworker, and will be an accurate account of how your child is progressing in our setting. At the same time your child's observations and work will come home. Parents are free to comment on what has been written on the child's progress report.
Please download and read our Parents Handbook for exrta information or feel free to contact us with any questions.
